Through artistic practice, rush weaving is given a new context. The woven rush carries the life of the plant into another form, allowing it to continue living within people’s everyday lives and memories. Rooted in the physical labour of weaving by hand, the works reflect an awareness of existence and the passage of time.
In the No Ground series, black rush is woven into interconnected structures that bind together fragments of the past, forming a vessel that carries life toward its future destination.
The Yayoi (弥生) series responds to the rhythms and cycles of the natural world. Miroku refers to the third month of the lunar calendar, when spring returns and flowers are in full bloom—a season that embodies renewal and the promise of life. Like the repetitive gestures of weaving, every beginning and every ending becomes part of an ongoing cycle of creation.

Currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Material Arts and Design at National Tainan University of the Arts, the artist is a contemporary fiber artist from Taiwan whose practice combines digital technologies with traditional weaving techniques. Through this interdisciplinary approach, the work explores the evolving role of contemporary craft within Taiwan’s diverse cultural identity.
The artist’s work has received First Prize in the Taiwan Weaving Craft Competition and Bronze Awards in two consecutive editions of the International Cheongju Craft Competition. A solo exhibition was also presented at the Textile Museum in Stockholm, Sweden.
Recent research focuses on Taiwan’s traditional rush weaving techniques, incorporating hand-dyed rush grass and rhythmic weaving patterns into the creative process. These works mark a new direction in the artist’s practice, expanding both the material language and visual expression of earlier work.
