The greater Hsinchu and Xinpu region boast a richly interwoven tapestry of historical context and living landscapes, bringing together diverse cultural identities—including Hakka, Hoklo, Indigenous, military dependents’, and immigrant communities. Developed alongside the coexistence of agriculture, traditional crafts, and high-tech industries, this environment has forged a unique cultural landscape that blends local memory, industrial transformation, and the rhythm of contemporary life. This rich, dynamic cultural and ecological environment serves as the vital nourishment upon which Grand View Art Village grounds its development.
Grounded in this foundation, the art village places its Artist-in-Residence (AiR) program at its core. Through local engagement, exhibitions, performances, and public projects, GVAV supports art creators to embark from their practices, deepening their connection and dialogue with local history, communities, and contemporary issues, while continuously exploring the symbiotic relationship between art and daily life, society, and the land.
Carrying forward the core spirit of talent development, GVAV provides a physical campus with generous space and resources, supporting creators to freely develop their practices and professional paths. Through accessible mediums and public programs, we also bring artistic aesthetics organically into everyday public life.
Rooted in the environmental, historical, and cultural contexts of Hsinchu and Xinpu, we utilize artistic mediums to translate and sustain local rituals and cultural memories. Simultaneously, through international residencies and exchanges, we broaden the local global horizon while fostering cross-disciplinary understanding and dialogue.
Through curated projects and community activities, we promote intercultural connection and the generational heritage of local culture. By integrating Universal Design and Cultural Accessibility
into both our physical infrastructure and operational systems, we cultivate a sustainable venue defined by social inclusion and environmental friendliness.
