2026 Open Call for Artists in Residence

Number of Positions: 3 artists

Residency Period: August 31 – November 30, 2026

Location: Grand View Art Village
(No. 17, Aly. 42, Ln. 1170, Wupu Sec., Xinguan Rd., Xinpu Township, Hsinchu County, Taiwan)

Eligibility

Discipline: Open to independent artists and cultural practitioners across all disciplines and formats.

Age and Nationality: Applicants must be at least 20 years old and must be either citizens of the Republic of China (Taiwan) or foreign nationals holding a valid ARC (Alien Resident Certificate).

Language: Basic communication skills in either Chinese or English are required.

Timeline

Application Deadline: April 30, 2026, 23:59 (GMT+8)

Shortlist Notification: By May 29, 2026
Interview: June 3, 2026 (in person)
Final Results Announcement: June 2026, via the foundation’s official website and social media platforms

Selection Process

Round 1 | Application Review
Applications will be reviewed by the Art Village Advisory Committee based on the submitted materials, artistic merit, and the proposed residency plan. Selected applicants will be invited to the second round.

Round 2 | Interview
Interviews will take place in person at Grand View Art Village. Shortlisted applicants are required to prepare a presentation. The committee will assess the feasibility of the proposal, the applicant’s artistic development potential, and its connection to the local context.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified by email by May 29, 2026. Due to the volume of applications, unsuccessful applicants will not be notified individually.

Open to independent artists and cultural practitioners across all disciplines and formats.

Residency Support

  1. Free accommodation and workspace, with a private room and workspace for each resident
  2. Residency stipend covering living expenses, production support, and domestic transportation subsidy: NTD 800 per day for 92 days, totaling NTD 73,600, to be disbursed in four installments
  3. Personal accident insurance during the residency period
  4. Support in connecting residents with local resources and networks based on individual needs
  5. Local orientation, cultural tours, and opportunities for community engagement
  6. Internal exchange activities within the art village, held periodically
  7. Shared bicycles for local transportation

Resident Commitments

  1. Residents are expected to carry out at least 3 public programs during the residency: 2 Open Studio events and 1 final presentation, and to participate in related promotional activities such as media interviews and educational programs
  2. Residents are expected to collaborate with staff on photo and written documentation, and to provide materials related to their creative process
  3. Residents must agree to grant permission for the non-commercial use of related materials, including images, texts, and other documentation, for educational, research, and promotional purposes
  4. Within one month after the residency, residents must complete and donate one artwork, and grant the foundation reasonable rights to use the work for promotional and operational purposes
