2024 Fall Artist Residency Program
Artist-in-Residence
Recipient of the 4th Grand View Emerging Artist Award, Visual Arts Category
Born in Taoyuan, Taiwan, in 1983, the artist received an MFA from the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts and participated in an exchange program at the Graphic Studio of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Czech Republic.
The artist has received several awards, including the Kaohsiung Award Grand Prize, the Grand View Emerging Artist Award, and the Mayor of Plzeň Award at the 9th International Biennial of Drawing Plzeň in the Czech Republic. The artist has taken part in residency programs in Taiwan, Europe, and across Asia, and works are held in the collections of the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, the Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium, Silpakorn University in Thailand, and Lovely Taiwan Foundation, among others.
The works are often composed of simple light and shadow, or repeated layers of drawn lines, without elaborate appearances or exaggerated scale. Using readily available ballpoint pens and paper, the artist builds up lines through rhythms of stillness and movement, searching for a renewed way to connect the self with the world, while returning to the essence and original intention of artistic creation.
