About | Happy City Life Festival – Applied Materials Arts Festival 2.0
The “Happy City Life Festival” is co-created by Applied Materials Taiwan and the Grand View Culture and Art Foundation. It carries forward Applied Materials’ 20-year legacy of supporting the arts, combined with the Foundation’s long-standing dedication to nurturing artistic talent and local communities. Together, we have established “Sustainable Culture 360°” as the long-term core philosophy of the festival.
Following the rhythms of the four seasons, the festival hosts four events annually. Inspired by the changing seasons, each event focuses on sustainability in environment and culture. Through diverse formats such as hands-on experiences, markets, and lectures, we create a relaxed and engaging environment infused with a spirit of “Adventure.” We invite everyone to join us as the seasons turn, exploring the myriad possibilities of sustainable living.
\ Winter • Happy City Life Festival 【Sustainable Design: The Interplay of Latitudes and Longitudes】 /
Under the theme “The Interplay of Latitudes and Longitudes,” this winter edition invites the audience to step into the world of fibers.
Through diverse techniques such as embroidery, paper cutting, and weaving, flat materials bloom into three-dimensional layers filled with warmth, showcasing the delicacy and creativity of handcraft. In the practice of craft, techniques and materials are more than just mediums for creation; they become carriers of cultural memory. The movements of the hands and the process of restoration continue the traces of emotion and time.
The sustainability theme for this winter is “Upcycling Waste.” By breathing new life into old objects through creativity and reinterpreting materials, craftsmanship reveals a new face. Here, sustainability is no longer just a concept, but a gentle yet firm attitude toward life.
