Artist-in-Residence Pilot Program II: Residency Presentation

Over the past month, the artists have been conducting fieldwork across Hsinchu. In addition to Xinpu, they traveled deep into Guanxi, Zhubei, and Hukou, leaving behind countless wonderful impressions and creative footprints. Looking back at their journey, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the helpful residents and warm neighbors who accompanied the artists in exploring the fascinating people, stories, and places of the local community.

Among the residency works, Wei Hsin-Yen used performance art to invite locals for walks, exploring the warmth of human companionship and presenting these experiences through video and diaries. Chung Yi-Chi’s print art captured the subtle details of daily life observed during her stay, creatively using Hakka flat noodles (ban tiao) as a visual thread in her prints. Meanwhile, Lin Kuan-Ming used video art to capture the diverse landscapes of Hsinchu through his lens. Through their shared “Hsinchu Impressions” and “Residency Creations,” we gained a much deeper appreciation for the region’s rich culture, heritage, history, and natural beauty.

Special thanks to senior art critic Professor Huang Hai-Ming for coming to share his insights, and to all the partners and friends who attended to show their support.
