2025 Spring Artist-in-Residence Program: Open Studios I

Following the launch of the Spring Artist-in-Residence Program, Grand View Art Village hosted its very first Open Studios event! Three resident artists—Peng Hsien-Hsiang, Maiko Sugano, and Hung Hsuan—were invited to engage in close dialogue with the public, sharing their creative journeys and local observations. The event drew a large crowd of art lovers and local residents, infusing the Xinpu area with vibrant artistic energy.

Through curated exhibition pathways and open studio spaces, the three artists shared their respective artistic lineages and deep perceptions of Xinpu gained during their residency. Starting from the subtle details of local everyday objects—ranging from Xinpu flat noodles depicted on manhole covers to the local ingredients on their daily plates and the abundant fruits harvested after the warm spring—the program allowed participants to feel the artists’ passion for community-based residency. By opening up their workspaces, the artists invited everyone to step directly into their creative universes, beautifully activating the very core of the residency program.

A reception was also held on the day of the event, featuring traditional Zhuqian cakes and sweet rice cakes from Xinpu’s century-old bakeries, paired with seasonal dried persimmons, persimmon leaf tea, and fresh marigold-mint water grown right in the art village. This allowed visitors to savor the local terroir while celebrating the fruitful harvest of the artist residency.
