On a warm autumn afternoon, the art village opened its doors to welcome back many long-time friends and neighbors to Xinpu. Together, they followed resident artists Kao An-Bo, Chiu Ching-Ting, and Lin Ying-Hsuan on a guided tour of their studios, wandering through the grounds from the inside out. Beyond the detailed discussions of creative concepts and techniques, visitors could feel the vibrant vitality of the artists through the visibly altered studio environments and the rich signals and creative energy brought back from their local field research.
For this first Open Studios event, the artists presented a selection of their past works in the exhibition spaces, serving as a roadmap to their individual artistic trajectories. Through this contextual retrospective and in-depth dialogue, they engaged in the most authentic and meaningful exchanges with the audience.
The studios also featured hands-on experiential areas. The artists guided visitors to experiment with tactile ink painting and dyeing, as well as the spontaneous twisting and weaving of textiles, sparking curiosity about the beautiful encounters between art and nature.
During this warm gathering, local Mid-Autumn festival treats and dried persimmons were shared, allowing the scenery and flavors of Xinpu to become rich nourishment for the ongoing artistic dialogue.
